HAPPY NEW YEAR to all our Bear families.  We hope everyone had a wonderful holiday season and stayed healthy!

January tuition is due.

January book flyers will be placed in lockers this week.  Orders are due by the 11th.

Supply wish list for this month is tissues-for all those noses, paper cups-5 oz. size (if possible), cupcake liners, copier paper, and any snack items you wish.

SPECIAL EVENTS will be held each Tuesday and Wednesday starting next week.  These events are activities to have fun with and to learn from also.  January 7th and 8th we will make PANCAKES.  Each child will help mix the batter and flip the pancakes on my big griddle.  We will eat pancakes for our snack.  Everyone will learn about sharing and cooperating with each other.

January 15th and 16th our Special Event will be an ANIMAL PARADE.  Each child may bring a stuffed animal to school.  We will have a BIG parade with lots of prizes.  We will learn about all the animals-what they like to eat, where they live, etc.

January 22nd and 23rd we will make a GINGERBREAD BEAR.  Everyone will help mix the batter and pour it into our special bear pan.  Hopefully he will not run away this year, but if he does we will find him and share him for our snack.  The story will be read and discussed.

January 29th and 30th we will have our annual SLUMBER PARTY.  Everyone comes in their pajamas and brings a blanket or a sleeping bag.  We will learn about night time, people that work at night, and nocturnal animals.

If we have a SNOW DAY when these events are planned, the event will happen later.

Please check the calendar on our web site or call me with any questions.

This week we are learning about WINTER.

WEDNESDAY the children will begin by finding the Beginning Sounds.  The letter is “k”.  We are beginning our NUMBER UNIT with the number “1” to trace and count.  Everyone will count 1 M&M.  Each number has a story to correspond with it.  The number “1” story is The Little Red Hen.  We will cut grains and glue them to loaves of bread-matching and counting.  Everyone will cut the “m” sounding pictures.  We will make a cave with bears hibernating.  Everyone will make a dog sled.

THURSDAY the Bears will begin with a maze to solve.  Their letter is “A”.  They will begin with the number “1” to count and trace.  We will match hats and make a snowman.  Everyone will share their newspapers and behavior books,

FRIDAY the class will begin with beginning sounds.  Their letter is “l”.   We will cut snow hats and glue them onto snowflakes.  Everyone will match the paper hats, continue with their math papers, make a snowman, and share their newspapers and behavior books.

THANKS for all the support.  Cindy Reardon
