March 03 - 07, 2008

We had a wonderful time at our Presidents’ Birthday parties last week.  The children ate cupcakes-chocolate for Abe and Pink ones for George Washington.  They loved their presents-sunglasses and blowers!

This month we begin preparing for our Art Show on May 10th from 10am until 2 pm.  Each class day the students will paint, draw color, sculpt, and create wonderful masterpieces.  These will be displayed at the Art Show.  We will also have a bake sale and some exhibits available.

Ted E. Bear will begin visiting homes this week.  Names will be drawn to choose the lucky child to take Ted home.  Adults will write about Ted’s adventure with your family and the child will return Ted and his book to school the next class day.  The teachers will read about his adventure to the class.  Each child will have an opportunity to bring Ted home with them.

This week our theme is Gingerbread Man.  Our Special Event is making a gingerbread man.  The children will help mix the gingerbread batter.  We will pour the batter into my special Gingerbread pan.  Because we do not have an oven at TBC, we will send the Gingerbread pan to Dawson’s house to bake in his oven.  Diana has agreed to watch the oven door very carefully.  When it is done baking, she will bring it to TBC and we will eat it –with whipped cream on top-for our snack.  Sometimes he tricks us and runs away….we’ll have to see how it goes this year!!

MONDAY the class will begin with a right-left paper.  The letter is “Q”.  Our number is “8” and our story is the Elves and the Shoemaker.  Everyone will cut, count, and paste shoes on the shelves.  We will make a Gingerbread man.

TUESDAY the children will begin with a SAME paper to solve.  The number is “9” and the story is the Nine Little Kittens.  Everyone will make a Gingerbread Man.

WEDNESDAY the students will begin by finding the OPPOSITES.  The letter is “”R”.  We will cut and paste on a forest paper.  Our Science topic is SNOWFLAKES.

THURSDAY the children will begin by finding the SAME items.  The color review is BLUE.  Our concept is OVER.  Everyone will make a Gingerbread book, share their newspapers and behavior books. SHOW AND TELL!!

FRIDAY the class will begin by finding the OPPOSITES.  The letter is “S”.  We will cut and paste items at the ball game.  Our rhyming word is BELL.  Everyone will make a gingerbread book, share their newspapers and behavior book. SHOW AND TELL!!!

For this month we need copier paper, construction paper, juice, snack items.  THANKS so much for all the items you share with the BEARS!!

This month is a busy one.  March 10 our theme is LEPRECHAUNS and on Thurs and Fri we will make a Trap to try to catch the leprechauns.  We want his pot of gold!!

March 17 our theme is EASTER and our Easter parties will be held on Tues and Wed the 18th and 19th.  Sign up lists for snacks will be posted on the front table.

March 24th our theme is SPRING (I HOPE) and we will have a picnic in the snow on Tues and Wed.
