February 11 - 15, 2008

TBC has never had to postpone three Special Events in one year---but this year the Wed class has missed the slumber party, making pancakes, and the beach party.  We will make up these three activities in the spring.

February tuition is due now.

February book orders are due this Friday the 15th.

This week our Special Event is Valentine parties on Wed and Thurs.  Valentines for classes may be brought in early to help the teachers sort them.  Thanks to all who filled up our snack lists for the parties!  WHEW!  The adults are wonderful this year!

February 18-22 there is NO SCHOOL-winter break at South Jeff.

February 25 the theme is our Presidents and we will have a birthday party for Presidents Washington, Lincoln, and Bush on Tues and Wed.

In March we will continue our Special Events with a Gingerbread Boy hunt, Leprechaun traps, Easter party, making ice cream and a picnic in the snow.  We also begin letting Ted E. Bear visit each child’s home to have an adventure.  Ted is a small stuffed bear who loves to travel.  He carries a notebook with him for parents to record his visit to their home.

When a child’s name is drawn, they will take Ted home with them and return him on the next school day.  He loves to visit and have adventures with everyone.  I even took him to California last year and will share the pictures with the classes.  We will also begin our Art Projects for our Art Show in May.  The children will paint with small brushes, large brushes, stencils, fingers.  We will make clay projects, chalk drawings, creative projects, bug jugs, parent pictures and information sheets, etc., etc.; we will fill the whole school with art work.  Our Art Show is scheduled for Saturday, May 10th from 10am till 2pm.  Hope everyone can stop by for a few minutes and check out all their wonderful art work.

MONDAY the class will begin with a reading readiness paper to solve.  The letter is “L”; the number is “6”.  Our story for number 6 is Six Foolish Fishermen.  The children will cut fish shapes, count them and paste them on the numbered tables.  We have a Math readiness paper to solve.  Everyone will make some Valentine decorations.

TUESDAY the children will begin by finding the DIFFERENT item in each row.  The number is “7” and the story is seven little Monkeys jumping on the bed.  Everyone will make their own bed and monkeys to play with.  We will make Valentine decorations.

WEDNESDAY the students will begin with a Reading Readiness paper.  They will have a math readiness paper to solve.  The letter is “J”.  Our Science project is our fingernails.  We will cut 1-2-3, count and paste.  We will have our Valentine party.

THURSDAY the children will begin by finding the DIFFERENT items.  The concept is “IN”.  We will begin a review of colors beginning with RED.  Everyone will share their newspapers and behavior books.  We will make Valentine boxes and have our Valentine party.

FRIDAY the children will begin with a reading readiness paper.  The letter is “M”.  Everyone will work on a math readiness paper.  We will make Valentine boxes; share our newspapers, and our behavior books.

Thanks again for all your continued support at TBC.  And a huge THANKS to the teachers who help so much each week.  Thanks Gals!
