November 12-16, 2007

Last week everyone had a chance to go fishing and catch something that lives under the sea.  We discovered sea horses, octopus, and clams.

This week our theme is THANKSGIVING and we will have our annual Feast on Tues and Wed this week.  The Bears will help prepare turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, rolls, cranberry sauce, milk and ice cream to share with each other.  They will help set the table and clean up

November tuition is past due.  Thank you.

November book orders are due this Wed., Nov 14th.

Our Fund raiser items should arrive next week.  I will let you know our final tally.

We will be learning about sharing and being thankful for everything we have in our world.  Everyone will take part in our Thanksgiving play-either as a pilgrim or a Native American.  We will discuss the trip the Pilgrims made to Plymouth Rock and how the Native Americans helped them.

TUESDAY the children will begin by finding the Same items in each row.  They will color with BROWN.  Everyone will make a Native American boy or girl decoration.  They will also make a bead necklace.  We will have our feast for our snack.

WEDNESDAY the class will begin by following the lines before I write paper.  The letter is “Y”.  We will cut on the lines.  Everyone will make a bead necklace to bring home.  We will also make Native American boys or girls.  We will have our feast for our snack.

THURSDAY the students will begin by finding the Same items in each row.  They will find and trace the TRIANGLE shapes.  Everyone will make a Pilgrim boy or girl.  We will make November signs; share our newspapers and our behavior book.

FRIDAY the children will begin with a Before I Write paper.  They will find and trace the triangle shapes.  The letter is “Z”.  We will cut on the lines.  Most of the class is doing very well with their cutting.  We will make a Pilgrim boy or girl, a November sign, share our newspapers and our behavior books.

UPCOMING ACTIVITIES:

November 19 and 20 we will learn about Turkeys as we finish our Thanksgiving unit.  There is NO SCHOOL the rest of that week.

November 26 our theme is PENGUINS.  We will learn about these very special birds.  I have a wonderful movie about Antarctic Antics.

The month of DECEMBER is devoted to CHRISTMAS.  We will make special presents for the parents, wonderful decorations and prepare for our Christmas programs.  We are planning our Christmas programs for Tuesday, December 11th and Wednesday, December 12th at 10 am...  The children will perform songs and finger plays.  They will bring a gift to exchange with a class mate-value of $5.00. Just fill in the FROM part of your tag, and I will fill in the TO part as I mix the gifts. Gifts for siblings, who are attending our party, may also be brought in.  Just put the child’s name on the tag and write “SIBLING”, too. Santa will make an appearance to listen to all those Christmas wishes and he will also hand the presents to each student.  Refreshments will be served.  Sign up lists for snacks will be posted on the front table in December.

Our last day of classes is Thursday, December 20th.

If you have any questions regarding our December activities please let me know. Cindy Reardon 232-2230
