January 18-22, 2010

Audrey Bibbins, Neva Bettinger, Katelin Shelmidine, Savannah Hodge, Morgan Hodge, and Miranda Hubbard found the Gingerbread Man!  He escaped from Tina’s oven when Sassy went to the litter box!  But we covered him with whipped cream and ate him for our snack!  He was delicious!

This week we are making STONE SOUP on Tues and Wed.  I have a big pot with a stone and meatballs in it.  The Bears may bring in a carrot, onion, potato, etc. to add to our pot.  Each child will cut the veggies and add them to our Stone Soup.  We will also read the story and everyone will act it out.

Monday there is no school due to Martin Luther King Day.

TUESDAY the class will begin by finding the DIFFERENT items in each row.  The number to trace and count is “3”-3 pieces of candy to count!  Our number three story is the Three Little Pigs.  Everyone will make a story board to bring home.  We will also make a stone soup bag for our craft.

WEDNESDAY the Bears will begin by finding the SAME letters in each row.  The letter to trace and print is “P”.  We will cut suns.  Our Science Topic is our Skeletons!  Everyone will help make Stone Soup.

THURSDAY the students will begin by finding the DIFFERENT item in each row.  We will find the items on TOP.  Everyone will draw pictures of their mouths and what they eat.  We will also draw pictures of our hair. Everyone will share their weekly readers and behavior books.

FRIDAY the Bears will begin by finding the SAME letters in each row.  We will cut a frog puzzle.  Our letter is “Q”.  Everyone will draw their mouth and their hair.  We will share our Weekly Readers and our behavior books.

UPCOMING THEMES:

January 25 our theme is bedtime and our Special Event is a Slumber Party on Tues and Wed.  Bears may come to school in their pajamas and bring a blanket or sleeping bag.  Please label everything!  We will play musical sleeping bags and stuffed animal toss.  Everyone will learn why they have to sleep, that they should sleep in their own beds, and night time jobs and animals.

February 1st our theme is Groundhogs and our Special Event is Pancakes.  Each child will help to mix the batter, pour it on my grill, and flip their pancakes.  We have a pancake story to share.

February 8 the theme is Valentines Day and our Special Event on Tues and Wed will be our annual Valentine Party.  Snack lists will be posted on the front table.  A class list will be in each locker this week.  Valentines may be sent in at any time-early is wonderful to help the teacher’s sorting them.
