September 21 - 25, 2009

We all learned about Mother Goose last week-reciting her Nursery Rhymes and singing her songs.  Everyone cracked an egg to make our Green Eggs and Ham.  Some loved it and some did not!  But they all loved cracking the eggs!

Tuition is due the beginning of each month.  Reminder notes will be sent home this week.

BOOK ORDERS are due by Wednesday the 23rd.  Books should arrive in two weeks.

SHOW AND TELL is held the first Thursday and Friday of each month.  Our first SHOW AND TELL will be on Thursday, October 1st and Friday, October 2nd.  Children may bring a special toy, book, treasure, etc., from home to show and tell during class time.  Please label the treasure and keep it in their back pack.  When it is time for Show and Tell the teacher will let each student go to their back pack and bring in their treasure to show the class.  This activity is a wonderful opportunity for children to speak in front of the class and tell about something of their own.  A list of all the items will be printed in our newsletter.

This week our Theme is Over Our Heads and the color is blue.  For our BLUE snack we will share BLUE jell-o.

MONDAY the class will begin by matching the animals to their homes.  The letter is “F” to trace and write. Our cutting unit continues with tearing strips of paper and gluing the pieces onto a starfish paper. We will color and paint with BLUE.  Everyone one will make a hot air balloon and a rocket ship to bring home.

TUESDAY the children will begin by tracing the dotted lines.  They will color and paint with BLUE.  Everyone will make a hot air balloon and a rocket ship to bring home.  WE are singing Head Shoulders Knees and Toes, The elevator song, Alice the Camel, and the Pirate song.  Last week we tried a Tooty Ta song.

WEDNESDAY the students will begin by finding the SAME items in each row.  The letter is “G”.  The cutting picture is a butterfly.  The Science topic is freezing water and then observing what happens when we hold the ice in our hands.

THURSDAY the children will begin by tracing the dotted lines.  The shape is triangles to find and trace.  Everyone will make a kite and an airplane to bring home.  We will share our newspapers and our behavior book.

FRIDAY   the class will begin by finding all the items that are the SAME in each row.  The letter is “H”.  Our cutting picture is a flower.  Our shapes are triangles to find and trace.  Everyone will make a kite and an airplane.  We will share our newspapers and behavior book.

Because the H1N1 flu has found its way to our school area, we are taking extra precautions at TBC.  We are washing the tables with Clorox wipes between each activity.  We are having the children use the sanitizer hand gel when they leave the play area to come to the tables, after using the bathroom, after sneezing, coughing, wiping their nose, and especially before snacks.  If your child has a temperature or a cough, they should not come to school.  The temperature should be normal for at least 48 hours before they return to school.  This flu is spread very easily and very quickly.  There have been several cases in the Mannsville School.  To some children it can be a very serious illness.   If you have questions about this flu, please call your doctor.

If you have any questions about school, please call me at 232-2230 or 771-7956.

Thanks Cindy Reardon
