January 21-25, 2013

The animals for the Animal Parade were adorable.  Each one received a certificate and a trophy.

This week our Special Event is our GINGERBREAD BEAR on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The children will help mix the batter-it smells so good!  We will pour it into our special bear pan and Ms. Tina will take it to her house to bake.  Buddy, her dog, will guard the oven for us.  When the Bear is finished baking, we will bring it to TBC, and share it for our snack.  In past years the Gingerbread Bear has run away from us, but we always manage to find him hiding in our classrooms.

We will also read the story and act out all the parts, too.

MONDAY there is NO SCHOOL due to Martin Luther King holiday.

TUESDAY the Bears will begin by tracing a worm.  They are getting better and better at following the lines.  The number this week is “4” and our story is The Four Seasons.  Our letter is “F” to trace.  We will make a Gingerbread Man to bring home.

WEDNESDAY the children will begin by finding the Different Letters in each row.  Our letter is “r” to trace, find and write.  Everyone will have a Math paper to complete.  Our Sight Words are BIG and LITTLE.  We will cut and count.  Our Science Unit will be mixing colors and making new colors.

THURSDAY the students will begin by tracing the sun.  Their letter is “G”.  We will do a review for number “4”.  Our new unit is Spatial Concepts and our first one is TOP.  We will share our weekly readers and our behavior book.  Everyone will make a story book about the Gingerbread Man.

FRIDAY the class will begin by finding the different letters in each row.  Their letter is “s”.  Everyone will cut a snail paper.  We will complete a math paper and a tallest-shortest paper.  Our new unit of RHYMING WORDS will begin with the word “CAT”.  Everyone will make a story book; share their weekly readers and our behavior books.

Next week our SPECIAL EVENT will be a SLUMBER PARTY.  Each child may come to school on Tuesday and Wednesday in their pajamas and bring a sleeping bag or a blanket.  We will talk about night time, nocturnal animals, and people who work at night.  We will play stuffed animal toss and musical sleeping bags.

Special Events for February are:

February 5th and 6th we will have a BEACH PARTY.  The students may come to school in their summer clothes and bring a beach towel.  We will pretend we are at the beach, swimming and boating.  Everyone will learn about water and sun safety.

February 12th and 13ht we will have our VALENTINE PARTIES.  Class lists will be in lockers next week.

February 18th-23rd there is NO SCHOOL due to winter break.

February 26th and 27th we will have our Presidents’ Birthday Party.  We will celeb rate George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Barack Obama as we learn about their lives.
