Welcome back after a wonderful vacation.  Hopefully everyone stayed well and had a great time.

THANK YOU so much for all the wonderful Valentine snacks and gifts.  The students’ bags were stuffed.  I especially wanted to thank NELLIE WILLIAMS for donating heart cookies for all the children.  They were delicious.  Thanks again.

This week our theme is Our Presidents and our Special Event is our annual Presidents’ Birthday Party.

We will talk about George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and Barack Obama.  Snacks will be pink for George Washington and his cherry tree and chocolate for Abraham Lincoln’s chose of wearing black clothes.

MONDAY the class will begin with a dot-to-dot 1-5 paper.  They are becoming very adept at these dot-to-dot papers.  Their letter is “z”.  Our number is “7” and our story is “Seven little Monkeys jumping on the Bed”.  We will learn about George Washington.

TUESDAY the Bears will begin by tracing the sun.  Following lines is very helpful for small hands learning to use their fine motor skills.  Their letter is “K”.  Their number is “6” and the story is The Six Foolish Fishermen.  The students will make pictures of themselves as president.  We will have our birthday party.

WEDNESDAY the children will begin with a Dot-to-dot 1-5 paper.  Their letter is “A, a”.  We will cut pieces of candy to glue in our boxes.  Everyone will make a self-portrait for our bulletin board.  We will have our birthday parties.

THURSDAY the students will begin by tracing a house.  Their letter is “L”.  We will find all the food items to circle.  Everyone will learn about Abraham Lincoln, share their newspapers and behavior books.

FRIDAY we will begin with a dot-to-dot 1-8 to solve.  Our letter is “B, b”.  Our rhyming word is BELL.  Everyone will cut pictures of the presidents.  We will learn about Abraham Lincoln, share our newspapers and our behavior books.

MARCH 4 our theme is SNOW and our Special Event is a SNOW PICNIC on Tuesday and Wednesday.  The menu will be sandwiches, chips, pickles, soda, and cookies.  We will play in our (pretend) snow.

MARCH 11 our theme is LEPRECHAUNS and we will build our traps on Tuesday and Wednesday at 11am.  If anyone would like to help, please stop by around 11am.  We need boxes, toilet tubes, yarn, tape, crepe paper, etc.  The children can become very creative as they build their traps to catch Louie our Leprechaun.

March 1 our theme is VACATIONS and our Special Event is a Train Ride.  We will visit Barney, the Three Little Pigs, etc. as we learn about trains.

MARCH 25 our theme is EASTER and our Special Event will be our Easter parties on Tuesday and Wednesday that week.
