November 26-30, 2007

We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday.

November book orders are due back by next week.  December book order flyers will be handed out this week.  Any orders should be back to me by Tuesday, December 4th to ensure the books arriving before Christmas.

CHRISTMAS PROGRAMS will be held on Tues., Dec 11th and Wed., Dec 12th at 10am in our class rooms.  The children will perform several songs and finger plays for their families.  Santa will visit and listen to each child’s wishes.  Each child is asked to bring in a gift –valued at $5.00-to exchange with another student.  Please list your child’s name on the FROM part of the tag.  I will fill in the TO part.  Santa will hand out the gifts to each child.  Siblings are invited to tell their wishes to Santa and may receive a gift also.  Just bring in their gift and mark SIBLING and the child’s name on the tag.  Sign up lists for snacks for the party will be posted on the front table.  Any questions regarding our program or party please let me know.

This week our theme is penguins.  We will learn about Antarctica , Emperor Penguins, what they eat, where they live, who watches the eggs, and what they do for fun.  Everyone will even try to carry an egg on their feet like the penguins do.  We will also work on special Christmas projects all week.

MONDAY the class will begin with a maze to solve.  They will cut on the lines.  The color is BLACK.  Everyone will make a penguin craft.

TUESDAY the children will find the DIFFERENT items in each row.  They will color with black and make a penguin.

WEDNESDAY the students will begin with a maze to solve.  They will cut on the lines.  We will work on several special projects.

THURSDAY the class will begin by finding the different items in each row.  They will find and trace rectangle shapes.  We will begin our spatial concept unit by finding the TOP.  Everyone will share their newspapers and behavior book

FRIDAY the students will begin with a maze.  They will cut on the lines.  Everyone will find and trace the rectangle shapes.  They will learn about TOP, share their newspapers and behavior book.

SHOW AND TELL is next Thurs and Fri.

I have placed a Thankful Box by our closet door.  We are learning about sharing and being thankful. Instead of bringing in a snack item this month, please share a non perishable food item with the Rhode center in Adams .  Just have your child place the item in our box and I will deliver the box to the center on Monday, December 17th.  Thanks for your support.

Our wish list for paper items is paper towels, construction paper, and copier paper.

THANK YOU to KYLE MOYER for sharing Jell-O jigglers with his class.

It is never good to scare or embarrass a child.

A child needs control that is kind, firm, and consistent.

A wise parent will not make a child feel that he is bad.

I need to trust my child; this will help him become trustworthy.

Adults are models.  Children will imitate our behavior-good or bad!
