Well winter found us again!  The Slumber Party for Wednesday’s class will be rescheduled for later in the year.  The Three year olds had a wonderful time with their slumber party.  They ate lots of snacks, listened to stories-in their sleeping bags and blankets, watched a movie, played stuffed animal toss and musical blankets.  And no one slept!!

On the Valentine class list for Tues-Thurs I wrote in “Olivia VanWormer” instead of ANNIKA VAN WORMER.  I’m so sorry, we had Olivia last year and I still call Annie Olivia sometimes.  Please add this first name to your class lists.  If anyone has misplaced their class list, I have extras.

Anyone working on their taxes and need my Federal Identification number, please call me at home.  Usually you can deduct TBC tuition costs under child care by using my number.

This week our theme is GOOD FOOD and our Special Event is Making Pancakes.  Each child will help mix the batter, pour it on my grill, and flip the pancakes.  Of course, everyone will share the eating, too.  We will be learning about all the good foods that are available to us in this area.

MONDAY the class will begin with a Reading Readiness paper to solve.  The letter is “I”. Our number is “4” for the Four Seasons.  Everyone will cut, count and paste the number of leaves the trees need.  We will continue with our Phonics unit. 

TUESDAY the children will begin by finding the object that does NOT belong in each group.  The number is “5” and the story is Henny Penny.  Everyone will help with our pancakes.

WEDNESDAY the students will begin with a reading readiness paper to solve.  The letter is “J”.  We will continue working on our phonics.  Everyone will have a math paper to solve.  Our Science topic is Our Nails.  Everyone will h help make pancakes.

THURSDAY the children will begin by finding the item that does NOT belong in each row.  Everyone will color 5 items in each row.  Top is our concept today.  Our shape review is Triangles. We will share our newspapers and our behavior book.

FRIDAY the students will begin with a Reading Readiness paper.  They will have a phonics paper and a math review paper.  Our letter is “K”.  Everyone will share their newspapers and behavior book. Upcoming events:

February 4 theme is Valentines and our Special Event is a Beach Party on Tues and Wed.

Children may come to school in their summer clothes and bring a towel.  We will pretend to visit the beach and learn about sun and water safety.  We will visit our pretend ocean and watch the fish swim by.  We will even go swimming and maybe a boat ride.  Our lunch will be a picnic at our picnic tables-bologna or peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, pickles, carrot sticks, chips, cookies and lemonade. Show and tell on Thurs and Fri.

February 11 our theme is Valentines and our parties will be held on Wed the 13^th and Thurs the 14^th.  Snack lists are on the front table.  Class lists were sent home last week.

February 18-22 there is NO SCHOOL due to winter break at South Jeff.

February 25 our theme is PRESIDENTS and our special event will be a Birthday party for Presidents George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, and George Bush-complete with cupcakes, hats, etc.
